Bruce Springsteen to Release Tracks II: The Lost Albums Featuring 74 Unreleased Songs

Bruce Springsteen is set to unveil one of his most anticipated projects yet—a massive box set titled Tracks II: The Lost Albums, which will feature 74 previously unreleased songs recorded between 1983 and 2018.

Slated for release on June 27, 2025, this expansive collection follows his acclaimed 1998 box set Tracks, which compiled unreleased material recorded from 1972 to 1998. Like its predecessor, Tracks II promises to offer a rare glimpse into Springsteen’s vault, this time spanning over three decades of his prolific career.

The project, long rumored among fans and insiders, began taking shape in earnest during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. With touring halted due to public health concerns, Springsteen took the opportunity to dig deep into his archives. “What I did during that period of time was I finished everything I had in my vault,” the 75-year-old musician shared in a statement.

“The Lost Albums were full records,” Springsteen explained, “some of them even to the point of being mixed and not released. I’ve played this music to myself and often to close friends for years. I’m glad you’ll get a chance to finally hear them. I hope you enjoy them.”

To accompany the announcement, Springsteen released the first new track from the set on April 3: “Rain in the River”, a song taken from the previously shelved album Perfect World. This particular album was co-written with frequent collaborator Joe Grushecky during the 1990s and 2000s.

The earliest material in Tracks II dates back to L.A. Garage Sessions ‘83, recorded between Nebraska and Born in the U.S.A.. The collection will also include tracks from the Streets of Philadelphia Sessions, as well as two notable albums from the 1990s—Somewhere North of Nashville and Inyo. Springsteen hopes the release of these two albums will challenge the common perception that the 1990s marked a creative lull in his career.

Earlier this month, in May 2025, he teased Somewhere North of Nashville by releasing the song “Repo Man”, offering fans a taste of the album’s country-infused sound.

In addition to Perfect World, Faithless—another unreleased album from the 2000s—will also be featured in the box set. The final album in the collection, Twilight Hours, recorded in 2018, serves as a contemporary companion to Springsteen’s Western Stars.

Tracks II: The Lost Albums is set to be released on June 27, 2025, and promises to be a treasure trove for fans eager to explore the deeper layers of Bruce Springsteen’s storied musical journey.
