Donny Osmond Unveils His Vision for Vesper: “This Really Is the Place”
For someone who has spent a lifetime in the spotlight, keeping a secret is not exactly second nature.
Yet for years, Donny Osmond managed to do just that.
Standing beneath a bright Utah sky and surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of Provo Canyon, the legendary entertainer finally shared the excitement he had been carrying for years as plans for the new Vesper entertainment venue were officially unveiled.
And if his enthusiasm was any indication, Vesper is far more than another concert venue.
To Donny Osmond, it represents a dream for the future of Utah.
“We picked the most beautiful day to do this, didn’t we?” Osmond told the crowd, smiling as he looked out across the canyon landscape. After days of rain and uncertainty, the weather seemed to cooperate perfectly for a project he described as years in the making.
For Osmond, who serves as chairman of Vesper’s advisory board alongside his wife Debbie, the announcement marked the end of a long period of silence.
“I’m in the business of announcing exciting things,” he joked. “And for years I’ve had to be very, very quiet about this.”
That patience, however, has only amplified his excitement.
As plans for Vesper developed, Osmond said he became convinced that Utah County was ready for something it had never truly possessed before: a world-class entertainment destination capable of attracting the biggest performers and audiences from around the globe.
“We have so much available to us here in Utah County,” he explained. “But we don’t have a first-class, world-class concert venue in this area.”
Then, with perfect timing, he paused and smiled.
“This is the place.”
The phrase drew laughter from the audience after Osmond realized he had unintentionally echoed one of Utah’s most famous historical declarations.
“Not a bad guy to quote,” he said.
For Osmond, the connection between Utah’s history and Vesper’s future feels fitting. Born in Ogden and a longtime resident of Provo, he has spent decades traveling the world while always maintaining deep roots in the state he calls home.
“This is where I met my wife. This is where we started our family. This is where we decided to raise our family,” he said.
While his career has taken him to nearly every type of performance venue imaginable—from small gymnasiums and intimate theaters to sold-out arenas and stadiums—he believes Vesper has the potential to become something special.
What excites him most is not simply the size or scale of the project.
It is the experience.
Having worked closely with artists, managers, agents, promoters, and venue operators throughout his career, Osmond understands what makes performers eager to return to certain places.
He envisions a future where artists leave Utah telling their teams, “You’ve got to play Vesper.”
Not only because of the audiences, he says, but because of the venue itself.
Nestled within the natural beauty of Provo Canyon, Vesper is being designed to blend entertainment with environmental stewardship, preserving the surrounding landscape while creating a destination unlike any other in the region.
“We’re not just building a concert venue here,” Osmond said. “We’re honoring the beauty of Provo Canyon.”
That philosophy appears to be one of the project’s defining principles.
Rather than competing with the canyon’s scenery, the venue seeks to complement it, offering visitors a world-class entertainment experience framed by one of Utah’s most iconic natural settings.
Osmond believes the world first received a glimpse of Utah’s potential during the 2002 Winter Olympics, when international audiences discovered the state’s beauty and hospitality.
He expects Vesper to build upon that legacy.
“The world got a first-class peek at what we have here in Utah,” he reflected. “And when Vesper comes in here, it’s going to be even better.”
For a performer who has spent more than six decades entertaining audiences around the world, that statement carries weight.
Osmond understands what great venues can mean to communities. He has seen firsthand how music, live performances, and shared experiences create lasting memories that connect generations.
That belief lies at the heart of the project.
As construction plans move forward, Vesper is being positioned not merely as a venue, but as a cultural gathering place—one capable of hosting concerts, family events, community celebrations, and performances that draw visitors from around the world.
Looking across the canyon, Osmond appeared confident that the vision would become reality.
Years of planning, questions, discussions, and revisions had brought the project to this moment.
Every concern, he said, had been addressed.
Every challenge had a solution.
Now, the future was beginning to take shape.
“People from all over the world travel to see this,” Osmond said, gesturing toward the canyon surrounding him. “The world is going to come here to Vesper to be entertained.”
For Donny Osmond, the dream is simple.
Honor the beauty of Utah.
Create unforgettable memories.
And build a venue worthy of the world-class performers who will one day call it home.
As he concluded his remarks, his excitement was impossible to miss.
“Welcome to the future home of Vesper.”
For Utah, that future may have just begun.
