Merrill Osmond Shares Emotional Dream About Wayne After His Passing: “He Was Smiling With My Son”
In one of the most emotional messages he has ever shared publicly, Merrill Osmond opened his heart to fans while reflecting on the passing of his beloved brother, Wayne Osmond.
Speaking softly and sincerely in a personal video message, Merrill revealed a deeply spiritual experience that brought him comfort in the darkest hours following Wayne’s death — a moment he says he will never forget.
“After my brother had passed away,” Merrill began, “that night I went to my knees praying that he might have that eternal peace and happiness that he was always searching for.”
The message quickly became far more than a tribute. It was a testimony of faith, family, grief, and hope from a man who had spent more than six decades standing beside his brother through every imaginable chapter of life.
Merrill described Wayne as someone who quietly endured tremendous physical pain and emotional struggles throughout his life, yet never complained. Instead, Wayne focused his heart entirely on the people he loved most.
“His love for his wife and his children and his grandkids were always present on his mind and his soul every moment,” Merrill said emotionally. “Also, his intense love for his Heavenly Father and his Savior was paramount.”
According to Merrill, anyone who truly knew Wayne understood the depth of his faith.
That same night after Wayne’s passing, Merrill experienced what he described as a profound dream — one that instantly filled his grieving heart with peace.
In the dream, Wayne appeared holding Merrill’s late son Troy in his arms. Both were smiling directly at him.
“They had the biggest smiles I’d ever seen,” Merrill recalled through tears.
When he awoke, he immediately turned to his wife and told her that Wayne had been allowed to show him not only where he was, but where Troy was as well.
“There was no greater joy that filled my heart that night,” he said.
For fans watching the message, it was an incredibly moving moment. Merrill explained that he later shared the experience with Wayne’s daughter Amy and hoped the story might comfort others mourning loved ones of their own.
But the emotional revelations did not stop there.
Merrill also shared a deeply personal memory from the year 2000 when he and Wayne were performing together at the Osmond family theater in Branson, Missouri. Reading carefully from old journal notes, Merrill recalled visiting Wayne one evening after a show.
Wayne, known for his love of tools and building projects, had been busy putting equipment away when Merrill suddenly felt prompted to ask an unusual question:
“If any of us were to pass away, what would you want to say to your family and to people around the world?”
Wayne paused thoughtfully before answering with words that would stay with Merrill forever.
“I’d tell them how much I loved my Savior,” Wayne reportedly said.
Merrill explained that Wayne then spoke passionately about his faith and testimony, emphasizing how deeply he believed in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the eternal nature of families.
He also reflected honestly on the difficulties of life in show business, admitting that fame had often been hard on him emotionally. Yet despite those struggles, Wayne believed the Osmond family’s image and music may have helped people endure difficult moments in their own lives.
“He knew maybe our music might one day help somebody get through some tough times,” Merrill said.
According to Merrill’s journal notes, Wayne also expressed sadness for people who had lost their faith or drifted away spiritually, saying he wished he could have shared his testimony even more openly throughout his life.
“My brother not only believed in God,” Merrill declared, “he knew God.”
The emotion in Merrill’s voice became even stronger as he remembered seeing Wayne alone in his room studying scripture late into the night. He described his brother as a deeply pure-hearted and sanctified man who remained devoted to his faith until the very end.
“One day he came out of his room with tears in his eyes,” Merrill recalled. “He said, ‘Oh Merrill, I miss my Kathy so much.’”
That simple sentence captured the heart of Wayne Osmond more than any stage performance ever could — a husband, father, grandfather, and brother whose greatest joys were always rooted in love and family.
Merrill called Wayne “a man that made it” and said he hoped one day he could follow in his brother’s footsteps.
“I only pray that I can follow after him,” he said quietly.
The message resonated deeply with fans around the world, many of whom have followed the Osmond family since their rise to fame in the 1960s after appearances on the The Andy Williams Show.
Born in Utah in 1951 to George and Olive Osmond, Wayne became one of the central members of the legendary Osmond Brothers alongside Alan, Merrill, Jay, and Donny. Beyond music, he was also an accomplished pilot, devoted husband, and dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Throughout his life, Wayne faced enormous personal challenges, including a brain tumor diagnosis in 1997, a stroke in 2022, and additional battles with cancer and hearing loss. Yet those closest to him often described him as remarkably optimistic despite the hardships he endured.
Following his passing in January 2025, Wayne’s family remembered him as a man of faith, humor, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
And now, through Merrill’s emotional testimony, fans have been given perhaps the most intimate glimpse yet into the bond the two brothers shared.
Near the end of his message, Merrill turned his attention toward anyone grieving the loss of someone dear.
“I hope this little message can help somebody out there,” he said. “They’re happy. They are at peace. They are surrounded by family and friends. Don’t worry about them. They’re doing good.”
It was not merely a farewell to Wayne Osmond.
It was a message of comfort, faith, and enduring love from one brother to another — and from a grieving heart to millions of people who understand what it means to miss someone deeply.
